Ilwoo Lyu is an assistant professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). Prior to joining UNIST, he was a research assistant professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University. He earned his PhD in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MS/BS in Computer Science at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. His main research area intersects computer vision, machine learning, and medical image analysis. He is interested particularly in developing novel algorithms for 3D shape analysis based on computer vision and machine learning techniques to explore highly convoluted shapes. His research topics span non-Euclidean data processing including shape matching, geometric feature extraction, unstructured neural nets design, statistical shape analysis, and 3D visualization with applications to medical image analysis.
